IIT JAM is one of the toughest exams in India, which allows you to get admission in Indian Institute of Technology to pursue dual degree courses like M.Sc. PhD etc. It's essential to know about the syllabus and the paper pattern of JAM because it helps a lot in your preparation. By analyzing syllabus you can make a proper preparation strategy and through knowing about the paper pattern you will get the idea about which type of questions will be asked in the exam. The Pattern of IIT JAM: There are 3 different types of questions asked in IIT JAM 2018. There will be a total of 60 questions carrying 100 marks. Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) Multiple Select Questions (MSQ) Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions 1. Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) : Each MCQ type question has four choices out of which only one choice is the correct answer. There will be 30 questions in the Test which will be based on MCQ which will carry one or two marks each. 2. Multiple Select Questions (MSQ) : Each MSQ type question is similar to MCQ but with a difference that there may be one or more than one choice(s) that are correct out of the four given choices. There will be 10 questions in the Test which will be based on MSQ which will carry 2 marks for each. 3. Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions : For each NAT type question, the answer is a signed real number which needs to be entered using the virtual keypad on the monitor. No choices will be shown for these type of questions. There will be 20 questions in the Test which will be based on NAT which will carry one or two marks each.
